HerbSyde - South London Hip-Hop Collective

About HerbSyde

HerbSyde is a South London hip-hop collective built around four artists: BannDIgz (beats, instrumentals & solo cuts all over the catalogue), Kayto (rap & grime with a production edge), Toolz On Mic (bars, lyric videos & comedy skits, always dropping something), and Yung (punchline MC). New bars, beats and videos drop regularly, mostly on TikTok and Instagram.

The Mixtape Era

Over 10 years before HerbSyde was a name, Toolz On Mic was already deep in the DatPiff mixtape era with the same crew that makes up HerbSyde today. He features on every tape in the run, front and centre from day one. In order, the mixtapes were:

1. Instrumentalz vs. The BarzA BannDIgz & Toolz On Mic collab tape.
2. The Pre TOMBToolz On Mic’s debut mixtape - 2009.
3. The TOMBBeats from BannDIgz, feat. Yung, with BannDIgz rapping on it too.
4. The Pro TOMBYung’s debut mixtape - 2010, feat. Toolz On Mic.
5. The Tombstone DeluxeA double 18-track mixtape by Toolz On Mic, feat. Yung, Virus, BannDIgz & other collaborations.
6. The Krypt2011 - feat. Yung, BannDIgz & Virus.
7. Principium Finis2013 - written and produced entirely within one month, all beats by BannDIgz, feat. BannDIgz, Virus & Yung.

The first four tapes - Instrumentalz vs. The Barz, The Pre TOMB, The TOMB and The Pro TOMB - weren’t just online drops either; they were sold physically in record shops, including Big Apple Records in Croydon.

Every one of those tapes was mixed and mastered by BannDIgz.

The crew has also linked up with outside collaborators over the years, including Young Cory from LA, UK producer Scott Styles, Forever Arti, Miny Montz, Trelli, Bully Big Ballz and Drip Rick - with BannDIgz in particular collaborating with other producers regularly.
